Hello readers and visitors, how are you doing today? Happy Valentine’s day everyone. I love you all.
My name is Oluwakemi (Lifestyle and Inspirational Blogger). I’m collaborating with other awesome bloggers on an annual 7-days program called #inspire week by Anuli’s Blog. Kindly check her page out. Today is Day #4 of Inspire Week.
February is the month we talk most about love. I’d like to share a column on Love and Be Loved (A Valentine’s Day Special). Enjoy!
I was searching for love quotes and I came across “To Love and be Loved is to feel the sun from both sides” by David Viscott, “Love me and I will move mountains for you. Hurt me and I will drop those mountains on your head.” and “We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly” by Sam Keen, To Love and Be Loved.
To Love and be loved is what everyone wants – it sounds simple. Love is anything but simple. What does it actually mean ‘to love and be loved’? To me, Love and be loved is not about a sunset walk on the beach with two people holding hands. Love is about making sacrifices. It requires you to give what you value most: your heart, mind, soul, and strength.
Love means different things to different people. Many of us believe that love makes them feel secure, wanted, happy, cozy and complete. Modern psychologists define Love as a strong desire for emotional union with another person. But what, actually, is love? If you ask those who have been together for years, those who have figured out the secret of life, those who are happy and you will realize your definition of love is not what love is actually means and it’s not how they see love.
Saying I love you has no meaning if you don’t cared to find out about your partner or support what your partner cares about or if you don’t know what matters to the one you love. Then you shouldn’t be saying I love you. You should be saying I want you to satisfy my needs. When you love your partner with happiness, joy, trust, sense of security something awesome begins to happen. If you fill your partner with love then it automatically flows back to you. That’s the sign of love and be truly loved back.
Love can be understood from the actions it prompts. Love compels us to give in order to alleviate the suffering of others instead of seeking to fulfill our emotional and physical needs, we humbly give ourselves. It’s about sharing each other’s joys and sorrows making you grow together and accept each other.
Love is about seeing an imperfect person perfectly. l love this quote, “We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.” The true meaning behind this quote is we don’t come to love, or fall in love, because we found someone perfect. Instead, we come, or fall in love by seeing an imperfect person perfectly. You see the flaws, and you see them clearly. But we love them back none the less.
Love is about understanding the other person by knowing them extremely well. Knowing what they like and dislike. It’s about exploring each other’s pasts and desires for the future. By knowing, you understand – respect between you grows. As respect grows, appreciation arises then love. Love makes you grow emotionally and spiritually. Love changes your mindset and put you in a new, better position. And it’s worth it.
